The Green Valley explores the connection between politics, art and dailylife in a multicultural neighborhood in Oslo. The film is inspired by three real events that took place in the director´s neighborhood.

Jury statement, The Golden Chair Award 2018


This film was ambigious, yet elegant, drawing on real events to provoke complex questions about privilege and interconnectedness. Despite it dramatic implications, it maintained a sense of humor and playfulness that engaged throughout.

The jury would like to give a special mention to one film in the competition that greatly impressed us with its sophistication, intelligence and elegance. We were struck by how this film presented complex themes and provocative ideas in a manner that is both unusually contemplative and beautifully composed. The jury gives a special mention to The Green Valley by Ellen H Ugelstad.
